Sachem Village Near Hanover High
Nails, nuts and bolts, and other artifacts were still being unearthed decades after the houses were moved to the present Sachem Village location. Some are still there.
This week's puzzle was an email last year; this is an expanded version:
Sachem Village
circa 1946
Did you know that Sachem Village started out as post-war housing for families beside Hanover High School? By 1954, these buildings had been moved to the current Sachem Village near the Campion Rink. Today HHS home soccer games are played here.
It’s rewarding to zoom in on the right-hand portion of the photo, where you can glimpse South Main Street just after WWII, before the Nugget Theater was built, when the Town Highway garage still stood on the undeveloped South Street (now the parking garage), and many more wood-framed buildings lined the streets.

My Great-Aunt and Uncle (Flora & Charles Stone) lived in the dark wood house just right of center next to St. Denis, with the drive off South st.. At some point the house was moved further to the left and now is between Hovey lane and South St.
I watched it being built the first time.
